Last month I wrote Cold Weather Coffee Roasting for INeedCoffee. As soon as that article was released everything changed. My Behmor 1600 roaster died and no tricks have brought it back to life. And all my heat trapping tricks have stopped working for the I-Roast 2. I think there is a problem with the heating element. Until spring hits, I won’t know for sure.
That leaves me with my trusted Poppery. The Poppery is the best coffee roaster as long as the weather isn’t too cold or too hot. Today it was just 43 degrees F and I needed to roast. Using the box technique, I was able to get what looks and sounded like a good roast profile.
