The Price of Teeth Cleaning?

When I was in San Diego my downtown dentist charged $80 for a teeth cleaning.  It was located in the Marina district near Gaslamp.  They had flat screen TVs hooked into the ceiling.  The patient was provided headphones and a remote while they had their teeth cleaned.  The $80 price did not include anything special such as X-rays.

In Bellevue, my dentist wants to charge me $190 for a teeth cleaning.  They are in a strip mall and there isn’t any fancy TVs or anything.  I pay out of pocket, no insurance forms to deal with.  I felt the price was way out of line, so I’m looking for a new dentist.

My question to you is what is your hometown and how much do you pay for just a teeth cleaning?

    Toothbrush – $4.00

    Dollop of toothpaste – $0.05

Cost to run TV in the living room while I brush – $0.05

Water for rinsing – included in my rent.

Cleaning my teeth manually every morning – Pricelss.

I just checked my medical records online to find out. My dentist charges $71 for just the cleaning and $39 for an ‘oral exam’ . Presumably that’s the cost to have the dentist come in and look at your teeth for about a minute although I’m not sure that service is negotiable.

DHAMMY and I go to the same dentist so I speculate the price is exactly the same. I was going to guess 110 to 115.

My boyfriend was charged $400.00 for one side of his mouth to be deep cleaned because he had gingivitis. Now the dentise wants $400.00 more for the other side of his mouth. Isn’t that a little high.

Kathie – I think so. For $800, he could probably fly to South America and have it done at a much lower rate and get a vacation to boot.
