Change My Pitch Up – Bowling Night

I don’t bowl much.  Up until last night, the last time I went bowling was in February 2002.  I went digging through my retired blog to locate my bowling night post.

Here is a reprint from 2/4/2002:

This weekend, a bunch of us went bowling for the first time in 10+ years. My scores:

Game 1: 83
Game 2: 110

Even though I’ve only got 2 games under my belt, I already have a few ideas for improving my score.

  1. Don’t leave my glasses in the car. Blurry pins are harder to aim for.
  2. Drinking 2 cups of coffee with an ephedrine chaser may have kept me alert, but my hand was shaking.
  3. Bring flask of Knob Creek (to take the edge off the stimulants).
  4. See if bowling alley has that cool ball with the rose inside from the movie Kingpin.
  5. Get lane with gutter bumpers.
  6. Hand grenades.
  7. Bowling steroids (you bowl perfectly, but you get a beer gut and go bald).
  8. Hack into bowling computer, add own scoring algorithm, and bowl a perfect game!

more pins, more fun

How did I do after a 6 year hiatus?

Game 1: 68
Game 2: 100
Game 3: 136

Sweet!  Now I need to decide if I’ll wait until 2014 before I go bowling again.  ;)

  1. I highly recommend a hand set bowling alley. There is one in Chicago, Southport Lanes and Billiards.

A five dollar bill tucked into one of the finger holes will do wonders for your game.
