This morning I walked down to the start of the 2008 Seattle Marathon to wish Kelli good luck on her race. As I type this blog entry, the race is in progress. I got $20 on Kelli to win the race. Some guy from Ethiopia gave me 20,000 to 1 odds. I wonder if he knows something.

And here is a photo of a timing chip on a runner’s right ankle. It has been 16 years since I last ran a marathon and we didn’t have these back then. Since the start line is very crowded, it can be minutes before the back of the pack runners even cross the start line. This gadget will give the runner a more accurate finish time.

Thanks for the company, MAS. The race was long, and painful, and painfully long. It may take me a day or two before I recap online, but tomorrow morning I’ll be planning for marathon #3.
