I drink espresso exclusively. However, it is starting to get expensive as I get about 8 shots a day at my local starbucks. I was thinking of buying a stove-top Biatta espresso maker. Will the coffee be comparable to store-bought? Is buying an expensive machine a better option. I am not concerned with crema, simply a unadorned espresso. thanks for your advice.

Some people like the stovetop espresso makers. I don’t. If you are looking for a cheap alternative that produces a rich taste, look into the AeroPress.

One more thought, at 8 shots a day, even a $1000 setup (Silvia/Rocky), can be paid for rather quickly.
