It has been years since I’ve seen a basketball game, but that hasn’t stopped me from developing my own methodology for completing the March Madness Brackets.
- Look for Ohio State and then pick them to win every single game.
- For every other match, pick the favorite. Since I know nothing about the other teams, I must assume that the majority of the rankings are correct.
Note that this strategy has never worked for me, but I figure I’m due.

Persistence is the key my fellow Alum!
Go Bucks!
Your bias toward Deal Old Alma Mater is your only Achilles heel … otherwise, all you need to know is the what the seedings mean (a 16-seed has never won a game, 15-seeds win only once in a blue moon … and the road is paved to make it easy for the 1-seeds). Beyond that, you’re right … the ranking committee generally knows what it’s doing, and too much additional knowledge is a dangerous thing when picking brackets.
Go Villanova!
