Gary Taubes – Why We Get Fat Lecture

Last Thursday I woke up and read a blog post that stated that Gary Taubes, the author of my favorite nutrition book, was to be giving a lecture here in Seattle for free at the University of Washington.  Needless to say, I changed my plans for the day and headed straight for the event.

For almost 3 hours Gary Taubes discussed nutrition with the audience.  I loved it.  I was happier than a middle school kid at a Harry Potter movie.  Only in Seattle could I listen to lectures from my favorite financial historian and nutritional researcher in the same week.

The lecture I attended started at Noon.  Earlier in the day, Gary Taubes spent a few hours speaking at another Seattle venue.  That lecture along with his slides can be viewed on their website.

Why We Get Fat: Adiposity 101 and the Alternative Hypothesis of Obesity

(1 hr 43 minutes)

If you don’t have the time or energy to read Good Calories, Bad Calories, I highly recommend watching this lecture. Taubes destroys the “eat less, exercise more” conventional wisdom to remedy fat loss.
